SHORES (BREHY) [2019-2023]

Like many of the author's recent works, SHORES is characterised by its moral and humanistic dimension, rejecting racism, social intolerance, and all forms of xenophobia. For many, shores are often the first place of refuge after spending hours at sea, uncertain and fearing for their lives.
The Bible recounts how Jesus and his disciples themselves were in danger at sea, and how Jesus saved them. Rescuing people in distress at sea is a humanitarian duty. It applies everywhere and without exception. No one should be allowed to drown.
Using traditional tonal and modal techniques and a sensitive approach to the instrument's capabilities, the composer aims to create a world of emotional textures in SHORES.
