The idea to compose If arose at the very beginning of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. It was a reflection on growing doubts and mistrust, but also about finding ways to make positive decisions in difficult moments.
If was composed as a reaction on many occurrences that happened in the last few months and changed a lot of things in the ordinary life. The Covid-19 pandemic, senseless wars, migration, violence, corruption. But the composition also has a philosophical, social and societal undertone. What would have happened, if .... This question was constantly circulating in my thoughts during the compositional process. However, If is also looking for light, a way out, and hope. It doesn't fall into depression. It is looking for an escape. If is dedicated with thanks to Ivano Ascari. |
